Electrician - Electrical is one of the most important systems of any home or commercial property. That’s why hiring the best electrician for your electrical project is so important.  While there are plenty of electricians to choose from, finding the best of the best doesn’t have to be hard.  Just follow these three simple steps and you’ll be sure to find the right electrician for your home improvement or commercial property project.

1.       Evaluate the Work Load - Are you planning on installing a few outlets in a small room or are you planning on wiring a whole home? Smaller jobs benefit from smaller electrical companies, while large jobs often require an electrical contractor company with a large crew of electricians. Determining the size of the project can really help to narrow down the field of potential electricians, allowing you to better maximize your time instead of sorting through bids. Sketching a small blueprint of the area you’re working with and highlighting outlets, switches and fixtures can also help to get an effective bid from your future electrician.

 2.       Check Licensing, Insurance, Bonds and Permits - Before you hire any electrician, ensure that they are licensed, insured and or bonded as required by local and state building codes. A state or local licensing number should be provided by the electrician and can be background checked against the state databases at your local building department. A quick call to your local building department can help you find out exactly what your electrician requires to legally start the project.

3.       Get References - One of the most neglected parts of finding a good electrical contractor is checking references. After getting at least 3-5 references from your potential electrician, you’ll need to follow up with a phone call or visit to the past client. This will ensure you get a reputable and experienced electrician with a long list of happy customers.
