Bathtub Refinishing - With bathtub refinishing, you can easily, quickly and affordably give your bathtub the ultimate facelift. With a wide variety of styles, colors and finishes available, you’ll be sure to get exactly the new bathtub you were looking for without the need to replace the old one.

Bathtub Acrylic Liners

For simplicity and affordability, an acrylic bathtub liner can’t be beat. These acrylic skins adhere to your existing bathtub walls, giving your old and dated tub a fresh new look. During the initial estimate, measurements are taken to create a custom fitting liner. Once the new liner has been furnished to the installer, an epoxy is applied to the surface of the tub after a thorough cleaning. The liner is then placed into the tub and either new—or the old fixtures are then replaced for a perfect watertight fit.

Acrylic liners are made from durable materials that prevent rust, mold and mildew stains. Most acrylic liner installations take just a few hours and cost fractions of the price of a new bathtub. And since acrylic liners come in a huge variety of colors and textures, you’ll be sure to find exactly the right liner to suit your bathroom design.

Bathtub Reglazing

A bathtub reglazing is a more permanent and durable solution to bathtub refinishing than installing an acrylic liner. It’s also a more costly process. When reglazing a bathtub, an acid etching or chemical cleaning is often required to create a proper bond with the surface of the tub and the glazing. Once clean, any dents, scratches or other blemishes then filled in and sanded. Next, the area of the tub that is to be sprayed with the reglazing compound is taped off to prevent any overspray. Now 3-4 layers of primer are applied in successive coats onto the bathtub. After it is allowed to dry, 3-5 layers of top coat mixture is then applied in successive coats. After allowing it to dry for 36-48 hours, a buffing is applied to the top coat to smooth out any imperfections in the materials.

Hiring a Bathtub Refinishing Reglazing Contractor

Refinishing a bathtub or reglazing is a job that a professional licensed bathtub refinishing contractor should do.  Before you hire a bathtub refinishing contractor ask about warranties; ensure that the contractor is registered and licensed to do the work.  Contractors in this line of work must be registered with the CCB (Construction Contractors Board).  If you hire a contractor that isn’t licensed YOU assume the financial responsibility should any problems arise from the contractor’s work.  Ask about the type of chemicals being used for the process. Take in consideration of the cost of replacement versus refinishing a bathtub.  Ask for references and picutures of previously completed jobs.
