Adult daycare programs are for those adults who need some form of care but without the need for a registered nurse or other medical professional help. Most adult daycare services include routine health monitoring, therapeutic activities, nutritious meals, transportation and emergency care at their facility while other adult daycare services offer fewer services yet provide in home care.

Companion Services

Many adult day cares offer in home health care and companionship services. These routine visits and phone calls ensure that someone with limited mobility can receive meals, transportation and access to health care services. Some companion services do not offer in home nursing or other health care services in the home.

Health Care

Some adult day care services provide transportation to and from the home so that the individual can receive health care that cannot be performed in the home. Many of these services include the same services as companion care provides, with the addition of rehabilitation, nursing or hospice type care programs. A registered nurse or other licensed health care professionals typically perform these duties.

Hospice Care

Hospice care is performed by a team of licensed professionals who care for the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of a person with a life threating illness. Hospice care can either take place in the home or at their facility. Many state and local programs cover the expense of hospice care both in the home and at a facility.

Hiring an Adult Daycare Service

Before hiring any professional adult day care service, it’s a good idea to ask for a few references before hiring. A minimum of at least 3-5 references from past clients can ensure that your potential adult daycare service has had plenty of happy clients, proving they have the experience they need to take care of your loved ones.
